Voting at the 2021 Lane Cove Council election

Things look a bit different. Here’s what you need to know before election day on Saturday 4 December 2021.

You can vote in person on election day or before at a pre-poll venue or potentially if you are eligible, you may also vote via postal vote or iVote.

The biggest difference is that you can only vote in your local council area – there’s no absentee voting (so no voting at Sydney Town Hall this year).

Remember: voting is compulsory.

Here are details on how, when and where you can vote in the Lane Cove Council local election.

Early voting:
22 November to 3 December

Residents in all three council wards can vote early by pre-poll from Monday 22 November to Friday 3 December at Lane Cove Council chambers.

ANYONE can early vote this year. You don’t need to have a reason!

Non-residential voters

If you are an owner, rate-paying lessee or occupier of rateable land in the Lane Cove area which is not your primary residence, you may be entitled to vote in the Lane Cove Council election.

Your enrolment form as a non-residential voter must have been completed and lodged with Lane Cove Council by 25 October 2021.

If a claim for non-residential enrolment was made for a previous election, contact the council to check your claim is still current.

If you need to update your details, please contact Lane Cove Council at 9911 3510.

Voting safely

The NSW Electoral Commission has developed a Covid-19 safety plan for the 2021 election.

When voting at a polling place you will be required to check in, wear a mask, physically distance, use a single use pen and sanitise your hands.
