About Madeleine Hinchy

Madeleine Hinchy is a candidate for Lane Cove Council’s Central Ward. She is running as part of Bridget Kennedy’s independent campaign.

She is second on the group ticket.

The youngest member of the team, she’s motivated to run for council to ensure the views of young people, renters, strata residents and newcomers to Lane Cove, are represented.

Renter & apartment dweller

Like many younger residents, Madeleine is a relative newcomer to Lane Cove, having moved into an apartment in the area 3 years ago.

She was warmly welcomed by locals, completely taken with the area and rapidly transformed into a passionate spruiker of Lane Cove’s charms to anyone who’d listen!

Her running mates Bridget Kennedy and Sally Kennedy were some of the first people she met in the area.

Lover of local government

Madeleine brings a strong understanding of local government to the team. She is currently a digital marketer and communications specialist for a major Sydney metropolitan council.

Her background working in local government has given her an acute understanding of the importance of local council to communities.

In 2020 and 2021, Madeleine was given the opportunity to work for the NSW Government. She worked with bushfire and flood impacted councils across the state supporting them with disaster recovery. This exposure to a number of communities and councils strengthened her belief in the unique role of a well-run council to a community’s wellbeing.

Madeleine is passionate about engaging young people in democracy and local government

On Monday 29 November 2021, Madeleine hosted an event for young people on the lower north shore in partnership with Run For It Australia and the youth team from North Sydney Federal Independent candidate Kylea Tink.

The event featured young people who are working on a local and federal level to advocate for the interests of young people on the lower north shore - and across Australia.
