
Voting at the 2024 Lane Cove Council election
Live in the Lane Cove Council area? Here’s what you need to know before election day on Saturday 14 September 2024.
You can vote in person on election day or before at a pre-poll venue or potentially if you are eligible, you may also vote via postal vote. There is no out-of-area voting in this election.
Prepolling for this year’s elections is for 6 DAYS, opening Saturday 7 September.
Remember: voting is compulsory.

Early voting:
7 September - 13 September
Residents in all three council wards can vote early by pre-poll from Saturday 7 September to Friday 13 September at Lane Cove Council chambers.

Postal votes
Postal vote applications are open from 6 August and must be received by the NSW Office by 5pm, 9 September 2024. Your completed ballot papers and postal vote certificate must be received by the NSWEC no later than 6pm, on the 13th day after election day.
To vote by post and have your ballot papers sent to you, apply online or download a form.
You can apply for a postal vote if you:
believe that attending will pose a risk to your personal safety or the safety of your family.
will be outside your ward or council area
will be more than 8km from a polling place
will be travelling
are seriously ill, disabled or approaching childbirth (or caring for someone who is).
have religious beliefs that prevent you from attending
are in prison or a correctional centre
will be working
are a silent elector. Note: You must already be registered with the AEC as a silent elector
are a person with a disability
Non-residential voters
If you are an owner, rate-paying lessee or occupier of rateable land in the Lane Cove area which is not your primary residence, you may be entitled to vote in the Lane Cove Council election.
Your enrolment form as a non-residential voter must have been completed and lodged with Lane Cove Council by 6pm 5 August.
If a claim for non-residential enrolment was made for a previous election, contact the council to check your claim is still current.
