Some thoughts on integrity and this election

As we head into the last few days before election day, I want to talk a bit about what Lane Cove deserves from their council candidates and councillors: transparency, integrity and a commitment to telling the truth.

I’m a proud signatory of the declaration of independents - a new initiative from Voices of North Sydney to ensure more integrity and transparency in local politics.

My team and I were the first to signed it. And it declares:

▪️ we are not members or associates of a political party

▪️ will always act in the best interests of our constituents and give effect to the ideals of democratic government by consulting the community and acting on community priorities

▪️ conduct ourselves honorably, respectfully, honestly, and transparently with dignity and care, putting the community's interests before any personal, sectional or partisan interest; and by doing so, retain the trust and respect of their community by being their best self.

Find out more here.

All of my team has signed it and you can find our signed copies here if you want to have a look at the detail.

This declaration is very much about integrity: as a community-focused independent I am commited to remaining in dialogue with our community and put their interests first always.

Isn't that what you want from your candidates and councillors?
